How to find out if you have Chlamydia without leaving your bedroom

chlamydia, test, from, home, symptoms,

Waiting around for what seems like a lifetime in a small eerily dark room avoiding awkward eye contact with other people before spreading your legs in front of a stranger who prods you with an unidentified but painful object. No I'm not explaining the average Friday night at Tiger Tiger, this is my general experience of sexual health clinics.

There's nothing I hate more than going to the sexual health clinic. I think I hate going even more than I hate going to the dentist. It's scary and weird and just generally unpleasant. Unfortunately it's also a must if you're having casual sex. Or any sex with a new partner at all for that matter.

As well as being the hardest to spell (only possibly beaten by gonorrhoea), Chlamydia is actually the most common STI amongst young people. Chlamydia affects 1 in 12 young people and often has absolutely no side effects so is tricky to diagnose yourself. When you go to a SH clinic this is one of the main things they'll be testing for in a general STI check up.

For the last four years or so I've been getting regular check ups every 3-4 months. Just to say one last time, I actively despise it. So I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled across freetest.me - a government run service that delivers DIY Chlymidia and HIV tests to your door in discreet packaging. You simply have to swab yourself and pop it back into a letter box of your choosing. The entire service doesn't cost you a penny. It even comes with a free post box which is super handy as I never have any stamps in the house. The process is also insanely speedy. I received my test three days after ordering it and was text the results (negative yay!) only three days after sending off my sample. The entire thing was done in less than a week!

Of course I will still be getting full STI check ups a few times a year but this service makes it so quick and easy for regular home checks for both the most common (Chlamydia) and most dangerous (HIV) Sexually Transmitted infections around!

I thought I'd just write this post to rave about this wonderful service and hopefully inspire some people who maybe don't get regular check ups to keep up to date with their sexual health in an easy and discreet way. Go freetest.me!

You are welcome

[I'd like to point out that this is not a sponsored post, not that there's anything wrong with sponsored posts, it's just that this isn't one of them. I just generally think this service is revolutionary]
